Plate Genius privacy notice

Information you choose to save
We associate your saved information with your account. Depending on the features you use, this includes:
- Sign-in identifiers and the name and email supplied by your sign-in provider.
- Profile details such as age, sex, height, weight, dietary preferences and allergies; meals, nutrition estimates, supplements, feelings, activity and workouts.
- Photos you submit, pantry items, shopping lists, saved meals, recipes, household sharing and feedback.
- App actions, shopping-link clicks, AI usage counts and diagnostic information used to operate, troubleshoot and improve the service.
Use only the information you are comfortable sharing. Household and recipe features share the information you choose through those features.
Optional Apple Health connection
You can use the app without connecting Apple Health. If you connect under Profile → Activity and allow the requested reads, the app sends up to seven completed calendar days of resting energy, active energy, steps and exercise minutes to your account service. The device time zone and last sync time help interpret those daily totals. Individual workout records, routes and heart rate are not imported.
These account-linked totals support optional calorie planning. An average of resting plus active energy replaces the profile activity estimate when enough recent completed days are available. A completed calendar day does not prove that a device was worn all day. You can select the profile estimate or a manual calorie target instead.
Apple Health totals and planning values derived from them are excluded from the app's AI tools, advertising, app analytics and shopping-link tracking. We do not sell Apple Health data or use it for advertising.
Disconnect in Profile → Activity to stop syncing and clear the current imported totals. You can also revoke the app's access in Apple Health or iOS settings. Disconnecting does not delete information independently stored by Apple Health. Account export and deletion include the app's imported activity records. Older encrypted backups may retain prior copies until they rotate out, as described below.
Optional AI, photos and voice
When you enable and use an AI feature, the content needed for that request, such as a submitted food or label photo, question, relevant saved context or voice session, is processed by the AI service configured for that feature. Those providers handle the submitted content under their own terms and privacy policies. Apple Health totals and their derived planning values are not included. Saved photos and resulting estimates remain part of your account until removed.
Storage, service providers and shopping
Your account data is stored by the app's backend service. Hosting, network delivery and backup providers process data to operate that service. Backups are encrypted. Operators may access service data when necessary for support, security, maintenance or recovery.
Sign-in cookies and device storage maintain your session and preferences. The iPhone app stores its login credential in the device's secure credential store. Optional shopping links open third-party retailers, which may receive the product search and affiliate referral information and apply their own privacy policies. HealthKit totals are not sent with those links.
Apple separately processes TestFlight installation, usage, crash and submitted beta feedback data under TestFlight & Privacy.
Your controls and retention
Use Profile → Privacy & AI to export your data or choose Delete my data. Deletion removes account-owned records and stored media from the active service and revokes account sessions. A minimal deletion journal is retained to prevent deleted account data from being reactivated during recovery. Older encrypted backups may contain prior copies until they rotate out; recovery applies deletion history before making recovered data available.
We retain saved account information while it is needed to provide the features you use, until you remove it or request account deletion. Feature-level deletion and account deletion can differ; deleting a timeline entry does not automatically delete an independently saved supplement or meal template. Changes and planning limits
We will update this notice when the service's data practices change. Nutrition and activity estimates are for food planning and do not diagnose or treat medical conditions.
